Welding in Gussets

Anyone have a fair idea of how much it should cost me to get a gusset kit welded into an frame/subframe? I dont know how to weld or know anyone who has one and I want to get gussets on my frame. Just trying to get an idea of what I would be looking at price wise.

Ask pappy. at B&K performance. friend got alot of work done by him and he's a really reputible guy. does some very nice work too ;)

Don't know if you're still in school or not, but if any of you're local high schools have a welding program you might be able to get them to do it for you. Just tell the instuctor that you would like to have the best welder in the class to weld it up. If you take it to a weld shop they're probably gonna "rake" ya pretty good. !!!!!!!!!

Cost me $15 to get the 4 in the front (shock mounts and the lower ones toward the front). That also included removing 2 bumper bolts that the previous owner snapped off and were described as "the toughest bolts I have ever removed in my life" by the guy. Anyways, back on topic... I made the templates and it turned out pretty well.

I would love to send it to pappy for the complete work and when I decide to get it PC'd but i just wanted to get the gussets in and maybe run this summer. Just dont want to pay more for shipping than the actual project. Next winter I'm hoping to do a complete overhaul. But I dont really have the money right now and its been over a year since I have been able to ride and I got the itch pretty bad! :devil:

I did mine myself looked at diagram of frame with gussets and went to home depo and got the metal then cut out with grinder the gussets got friend with welder to weld then painted frame. you could just sand areas put on gussets then paint over spots till you can afford the pc.

Yeah its time for a change in color did it 4yrs ago looking dull after desert&trail riding chipped it and dulled by sand should have clear coated, but looked awesome the first time I painted gray frames are so factory wanted something different and flashy after welding gussets on.

black would be sweet. then it would be easyer to touch up.

Thanks scottsworld looks good. Wish I knew how to do it myself and had the stuff to do it.

The rest of you well machines that run always look better than those that are broke down on the trailer or in the garage therfore a honda will always look better than any suzuki!

Yeah you know it pipeless416!You know what Id have to say but,will hold back .this topic was gussets all I was trying to do is show that it can be done yourself ,you dont need (unless you got money to throw around) to spend 500+ on gussets and paint you can do your self sure mine,s not the best paint now! OH and to the people that hate the Z ,cause this is the view you see! Id hate it tooo!HAHA.
