Just installed my new bearings into my stock carrier. Is there supposed to be slight play in the inner sleeve? Seems as if both bearings are seated all the way yet there is still a bit of play when I shake it. Is it normal?

Have you tighten everything up? If you still have play, then the center tube is bad in the bearing carrier. If the bearring came apart before or if you have replace the bearing many times the center will wear out. Ifr this is the play that you are talking about, when the bearing are tight in the carrier but the center tube is loose.
