A 170 main jet sounds pretty high to start out with. Start with a 155 main.

On the needle, move the clip down one notch. Down is richer, up is leaner.

Good luck and let us know what you come up with!

I belive the jet kit needle has a different taper to it. Whether it is better I don't know.

the dyno-jet kit says to use theirs on the 3rd notch, but they also told me to use a 170 main jet(i use the 165), so idk if i should do what they say or put it up a notch or what. the 170 main was a little rich, the plug kept gettin black and wouldn't start. the 165 seems to be good.

if you're below 3000 ft that sounds good, the jet kit probly tells you to use a 170 but i found that to be a little rich even with no lid at all. i think i'm gonna try the new needle but not at the setting they say. moving the CLIP up makes it a little leaner right?

Probably...Do you want to get rid of your jet kit needle?

There is some good info here http://www.exriders.com/jetting/jetting.shtml

Moving the clip up lowers the needle which makes it leaner.
