Shouldn't front bumpers in general be bigger, I mean really, what are they protecting?

they protect part of the front plastic, they give a better point to grab, tie to, or push with and it also betters the apperance in most cases

I am just thinking that they should be big enough to protect the a-arms (although it might look ugly as hell then).:D

they protect the front of the frame where the a-arms join the frame. A bumper doesn't have to be big, it all depends on what you're doing with you're quad. An XC bumper on an mx quad will only add weight. An Mx bumper on an xc quad won't give enough protection.

its just a matter of what you need the bumper to protect
thats why there are countless brands, designs,styles, and finishes
