Water in the oil?????? HELP!!!!!!

I was changing my oil in my 400ex the other day and after i drained the old oil, Changed the filter, I put one quart of oil back in it. then i went in side to let the oil run into the moter. When i came back out the oil tank in front of the moter was still full. I started it up and run it around the yard a few times. When i got back to the garage i checked the oil and it seemed really runny.
I was wondering why it only took 1 quart of oil??
there is only one drain plug under the shifter ? Right?

drain the tank then the crankcase. dont know how it would be much different but thats the correct way to do it

did u drian the oil tank 2? u have 2 drain the tank and under the shifter

where is the crankcase drain plug at?

no i didn't drain the tank

When i put oil back in it do i just put it in the tank or do i have to add it in the motor somewhere?

into the tank and change ur filter

-Drain oil tank (in front of motor) by loosening the drain bolt. Then Drain crankcase (under shifter). Then Change filter (if you are doing so).

-Put all the bolts back in. I usually fill the OIL TANK with a bout 1 1/2 quarts. Then I let it run for a few minutes, check dipstick then add till properly full.

The oil being really thin and watery is because it was warm from it running and you riding it around the yard.

i have the oil draining out of it right now But ill need to pick up one more quart oil since i screwed up the first time. Thanks for the help guys. i sorta feel like a dumb @$$ asking but i would rather be a dumb @$$ then screw up my quad.

i already changed that. Now all i need is some more oil. Ill have to pick some up tomorrow. What kind of oil do you use? and how much does it cost? I just put in some honda GN4 i think.. That stuff cost 5.50 a quart

i use the honda synthtic its in the gold bottle with a red cap really good stuff

^ same.. but switching to mobil 1 synthetic

i use castrol actevo and i think its the best stuff i've ever used.
