Im new to the banshee I just picked mine up today. Last owner said it was a 95? It has the j arms up front. My question is is it possible to convert the j arm set up to a arm set up? If so which set up would work best for mx riding and xc riding? Thanks

The J-arms were from 1987-1990 1/2 only. Mid 1990 they switched to a-arms.
Yes it is possible to convert it if you have some welding skills.
For MX, the J-arms are better. They are lighter (less suspended weight=better suspension preformance) and for xc the a-arms are probably better in case you were to smack a tree with the arms.
I like J-arms more in all honesty.
Plus I heard all total they're some 14 pounds lighter then the a-arm frames.

As a matter of fact they do and are much stronger then the stock design.
I forget the companies name but they make a +2 +1 J-arm kit.
I think Denton is one

Lonestar makes them. You have to email them I think

Dave Moore (dont know if they're extended)

Sweet thanks for the help ill check them out. Before I buy a new set Im going to need to finds a new crank though. The guy I bought it off of said it spun a bearing after he just got it rebuilt. He only got three rides in before it happened.

Damn that sucks.
Were you buying new or used...?
If you're going the used route, there are lots of reputable people on bansheehq that sell cranks. You can get a decent one from a fairly new bike for around $100.
If you have the funds for a new one, Wiesco and Hot Rods are the way to go.
I just got done with my rebuild. What a nightmare. But nows it all over and she runs like a beast:cool:

I have a set of Roll Design +2 +1 J-arms for sale with 4 new ball joints & good pivot bushings. I mainly ride XC but I have played around on a few MX tracks. This quad with works shocks rides much better than my wifes 2002 with stock A-Arms & works shocks.
