oil in airbox...BAD

So After busting my a** for a whole week to try and fix my 400 spark problem, i finally got it fixed this morning. I started it up, went inside to get my helmet and gloves, go back out to the garage and oil is pouring out of the airbox!!!!!! i dont have that little rubber stopper on the bottom so it all just hit the floor! I believe blowback is what causes this but im not sure, can anyone help me out?

yeah that would be the blowback. Whats the oil level like?

I had to add oil this morning before i started it.. do you mean what is it now?
Whats the problem? are the rings bad?

check your oil level. there is a possibility that you overfilled it and its relieving that extra pressure through the crankcase breather.

Well i was eager to get home today to see if it was overfilled. I started it up and checked the oil level. It was towards the lower end of the stick. I didnt wanna add anymore to test it, so i started it up and oil came right through the airbox... this isnt good! Any tips?

even with rings that have worn beyond tolerance should not cause oil to pour out of the intake. it would be burned in the combustion chamber and your exhaust gas would be dark and thick.

The smoke is normal.. what causes this problem then?

did you over oil your k&n?

it may be something with the cylinder head, but i can't make an accurate diagnosis without seeing it.

No its not my filter. It's weird this is happening because it didn't do it before. I took it apart to put on a new right crankcase gasket and a oil filter...Im wondering if i have the oil line and the radiator line mixed up on the crankcase..can anyone help me out?

no radiater except for an oil cooler, could it be that the oil pump is bad? maybe all the oil is sitting in your crankcase and not moving so ur crankshaft is forcing the oil through the breather?

I had this same problem when I had mine. I had checked my compression and it was actually excellent.

I ended up re-routing the oil hose to an air/oil separator that would allow the oil to return to the head and then ran a hose with an EGR valve back to the airbox. The EGR valve was there to prevent water or dirt from backing up into the engine.

Is it only at WOT?

Not really. I went through umpteen oil changes with mine doing that.

something is blocking the oil from flowing past the pump, the pump work or there wouldnt be oil pumping out into your airbox. it after that, plugged line? plugged something on the pressure side of pump not intake side. filters not in backwards, i had mine in backwards once and it worked fine, its not a one way filter. mine was in backward for a whole ride, changed the oil again at the end of the ride and noticed filter, never had a problem. its a flow problem because it has a dry sump oil is constantly moving, something has to be pinched plugged or impassable anyhow. good luck
