I have a 2005 trx450r. It has leo vince slip-on and and i am about to mod the airbox lid. Does anyone have an idea on what jet size to start with.

Thank,

The main should be between 180 & 185. Move the needle up one notch. Go up to a 50 on the pilot.

180 is way too high
im running 450CC std bore 13.6:1 comp hotcam stage 2
custom 3 step exhaust CRF silencer Dynatec adjustable CDI
No Lid and 30 hours of carefully thought out and flow bench backed up Head Porting Im running a 155 main jet and the EGT is at 1365 degrees at 11500 rpm and i am confident to put it up against any 450 race quad any day 61.5 hp to the wheels

You probably also have an 06+ bike with an FCR carb on it :P
Totally different jetting then the stock 05 carb.

If I remember, stock main is a 118. First start with low speed settings. Fuel screw at 2.5-3.0 turns. Pilot stock. Raise needle up one clip position. start with a 130 main.
If still hesitates off idle you might have to go one bigger on pilot. This should be close, pending on where you live.
It was 30 here yesterday, 70 today ???

With no exhaust, it wouldnt be to far off either.

Beaudacious, great hp numbers!!

As previously stated 180-185 shoudl be fine on the 04-05 trx carb. The HRC kit for those years comes with 185 if that tells you anything :)

ive put 750 hours on the motor and most of the time it is at 12750 rpm just bouncing the rev limiter with not so much as a hiccup egt is right at 1365 degrees tail pipe is grey so is plug
i ride with alot of other 450s and they all jet to the recommended jetting and needle positon they have black sooty tail pipes and mine walks all over them hehe i just keep my mouth shut and pray they dont see my egt probe in the head pipe
