450 or 400

Hey guys right now im on a slightly modded 250ex but i'm trying to sell it to step up, i was wondering whether or not to go to a 400ex which i already found one that i like or should i go to 450, im going to be racing xc and have heard nothing but good about how well the 400ex is handling wise and was figuring on getting 450r shocks for it and have them rebuilt by gtthunder eventually
I'd like some imput on whether or not i'm going the right way with my decision, thanks

i mean obviously the 450 is better but the 400ex is cheaper

That was my take on it too, plus i think for being my first clutched quad i think the 400 will be easier to learn on

with simple mods, your 400 can run with 450s all day

with the right rider on the track.
but on drags. with an equally skilled rider on each machine the 450r will dominate the 400ex. unless on course its a hybrid or something.
but i can hang with 450s all day on the track, just because im as good a rider if not better than they are.

Thanks for the imput guys, ill be racing a novice xc class with it so i think i will have enough power to hang in there

there alot more reliable.. and they are nice quads..

the 450 is alot of upkeep an pricy..

450=no rever, 2005+400ex's=reverse.

This is why i ended up with a 400ex. I use reverse alot. This is my thought get the 400ex plus its easier to maintain and cheaper.

For novice XC, you can't go wrong with the EX. They can be made to run strong with a few mods.

if your racing get a 450. 400's work ok but if you get a 400ex you will regret it becuase soon you will be trying to figure out how to get a 450

400ex's are great learning machines and yes you can modd them to hang with an R but, stock 450R's are very reliable and handle well too. There quiet when stock and are better in almost every aspect compared to the 400. My advice is to save your pretty pennies and get yourself a nice 450R. You WON'T regret it!
