Can anyone help be determine whether or not my crank bearings need replacement. I was told by a local shop to see if it has any play in it because it does and he said it should but how do i know how much any help would be appreciated.

ho , well if it were up and down i would say OMG GET IT FIXED RIGHT NOW ,but side to side , so what they all do that!:)

ya but i was told to check bk they thought the way my cylinder looked they said to check my crank bearings and to do that u need to check the play side to side.

1st you would have to know what the specs.are then use a feeler gage to know how much it could be and still be in spec.
but if you have no up an down play ,which is very good .i would think some other thing was wrong ,maybe a bent rod

If crank is bad hotrods has a 430 stroker kit for alot less money than dealer has to put it back stock and the power is like stock 450 power!wish i could afford to get.

from manual, have seen them on ebay ,i have one but i dont know were it is.

There's usually some play side to side and a hair excessive wouldn't frighten me too much. We all agree on the up/down play which is a bad thing :D

In some cases I've found a loose crank nut on the right side that caused some excessive play.

By then, the motor was tired and needed to be torn down anyhow.
