yes you will need to drain your oil, then just take out all the bolts as well as oil filter cover bolts and oil lines. then just cover it up with shop rag and you should be good.

Its best to draw on a piece of cardboard a diagram of the cover and stick the bolts through the cardboard where you take them off, you'll need a rubber mallet to hit the cover to break the seal and take note where the dowels are.

If you tilt your quad enough you wont have to drain the oil and be sure to locate the rubber O-rings on the oil lines cuz they can be stuck to the lines or on the motor.

There are 2 drain plugs one under the tank and one under the shifter lever.
Take the oil lines off first and remove the brake spring and move the lever out of the way so you can get to all of the bolts

i drained my oil and some oil still came out of my case so have a rag ready.your going to have to remove your break.and theyres a nob sticking up a little on top of the right case.your most likely going to have to get a screw driver and hammed and hit it to break the seal. and when its off make sure you cover everything so nothing can enter the engine.

remember the order that the bolts came out or use the cardboard trick and you should be good.

its there so you can tap the case to break the seal if its stuck really good on there.

and for the blots put them all in hole till all the blots stick out the same distance.

Can you use a screwdriver to budge it alittle cuz sometimes it doesnt wanna move off the dowels. But do it very lightly

i heard something on another site [i searched google] that you have to turn the clutch thing counter clockwise as you pull? do you have to do that?

Honda#4

Yep thats why it wont come off, as you pull it off be gentle that you dont rip the gasket if you can help it so you could possibly reuse it but its hard to do that.
