Stator test

i bought a 400ex off a friend to resale to make a few bucks. the bike ran a year ago but now it runs then dies out after a min. it has spark i'm thinking maybe the stator is going i was wondering
how do i test it? what should the output be?

sure the carb don't need to be cleaned or idle need to be readjusted?

if the motor has spark, the stator is not bad. check the carb and plug. does it make any kinda noise when it is running?
