05 yfz oil mod

ok i was gonna get the 05 yfz i did some reseachand found they need that oil modd. i was seeing how important that was and is there any peaple that dont have it how reliable is your bike need help do they really need that mod i have a not alot of money to bespending on this bike yet

It depends how hard you ride it and how often you change oil.

Many 04-05's are still out there without the oil mod, running just fine.

I did it to all our motors, because we race MX in the Pro class.

ok so if im just a weekend rider it should be fine i dont race or nothing but when i can open my bike up i do so you think i should be good

Yup......... you'll be just fine as long as you change your oil and filter regularly, and use a good quality oil.

just change the oil filter everytime you change your oil. id recommend K&N oil filter and Belray thumper 10w-40 motor oil. best oil you can buy IMO.

UMM NO, you use what oil came in the bike which would be yamalube and use a factory yamaha oil filter, nothing else

yamahlube is not nearly as protective as the bel ray thumper racing oil big dog..

There are many quality oils on the market. Just don't use some cheap crap. As far as needing the oil mod because of racing or just riding.... I raced my YFZ without it for almost 3yrs with no issues. There was a guy here that I rode with that never raced and his rod snapped because of lack of oil. However, I did notice that when I did my rebuilds the piston pen had marks in it from friction against the piston from lack of oil. I did it just for the extra protection and the scouring marks are no more now that I have it done.
