I just put the 15 tooth sprocket up front on my 525irs outlaw which feels great but I notice when I put the bike in neutral I have some extra noise when the clutch is released. Any ideas or is this always there and I just never relized it.

The 525 makes some noise in nuetral.... I did not notice any increase in noise after putting on the 15T

I don't think it's because of the15t I just don't know if something might be going wrong. It seems to shift normaly through the gears, I just don't know if I should be worried.

do a search, this common. mine does it as well. when in nuetral and clutch is let out, sounds like a gravel truck is in your motor. lol

Yea I figured the noise might have been ther the whole time, I added something so no I'm hearing everything. I sure do like pulling the wheels 6inces off the ground instead of trying to put me on my back. Definitly a well spent 16 bucks, and easy install no I just need my exhaust and jets.

If you pull your clutch cover off there is an aluminum nut inside there that has probably come loose and is probably causing the noise. When I tightened mine the herd of elephants sound disappeared.....at least until it came loose again. I know there is some pics somewhere on here of what I mean. SSJEFF should know where it is.

LOL, you guys are getting so good, I can go on vacation.

I cleaned the theads on the nut and the shaft with a good degreaser( I used starting fluid since it was all I had) and loctite the nut on. You will still have a little noise since it is a KTM but not as bad. You can almost see the nut through the fill hole and with the clutch quick change cover off.

Hey, thats my quad!

I first found this problem when changing out the gasket and bumped the nut and noticed it was loose and took a picture of it. Since then many people have also said they have found that nut loose. Like stated it is a reverse thread and the torque spec is a whopping 110 ft/lbs. It is a pain in the butt to get that tight without turning the engine over. I used a piece of wood to jam the gears, but some have suggested using a penny also.

This did not make any difference in the sound of mine though. She still sounds like a gravel crusher going on its 3rd year.

I used an impact. I don't recall it being reverse thread though.

Yes it is and very easy change. Crank bolt is not reverse thread like the tranny nut.
