Just bought a new motor

and it doesnt wanna start. its an 07 and it should definitely run. any ideas on what it could be? I will double check the wires and everything this weekend but i figured posting up wouldnt hurt.
i'm gonna check the carb and make sure all the electrical connections and stuff are hooked up right and go from there.

It does want to start. it turns over but it just doesnt start...

any ideas just post up.

Make sure the valves are within spec.

Do you have spark?

find out if its fuel or mechanical, spray some starting fluid in it..if it runs its a carb problem, if not probably not a carb problem. eliminates a huge section of your troubleshooting.

how would i check if the valves are within spec?

and the motor definitely wants to start and it turns over...but doesnt start.

the quad is at my friends house right now and he says like every 5th time he pushes the start button, it backfires a bit he said. who knows thought...

fuel, compression, spark

stock jetting? stock bore/stroke? check the float? pull the plug and check for spark? all clamps on the carb tight?

where did you get the motor?

i would spray starting fluid through carb to see if it will run that way. will save you alot of trouble checking it that way if its the carb or electrical.

sound like valves are out of spec if its backfiring.

gonna try and play with the carb today...valves are gonna be a ***** to adjust. thanks for the help thus far
