View Full Version : 2008 Sportsman 500EFI Oil Change

I just changed the oil on my Sportsman 500 for the first time. I drained the tank, removed the oil line, cleaned the screen, (wasn't anything in it, cool!) and changed the oil filter. Two questions: The book says there is a sump drain on the lower right side of the engine that holds a cup of oil, never found it? Also I tried the run it with the vent line pinched thing and that didn't seem to do anything as far as priming anything. I never got the "rush of air" sound. The oil seems to be flowing just fine, the oil tank gets warm and I can feel a pulse in the return line, no oil light? Is it ok?

I am new to Polaris vehicles,

Thanks

oil
your fine, I usually dont even go as far as removing the screen.

I usually just drain oil, remove filter, put on new oil filter, add new oil and ride away.

After seeing how clean the screen was on the "break in oil" I don't plan on fooling with it much more.
