I thought I had another set of broken gears so I took it all apart. The gears were fine but the tranny oil was very milky. Could it be from condensation or is water getting in somehow? Thanks.

Tube is still there. No mud riding. The quad has only been rode twice in the last two months for a total of about an hour. It is stored in the garage.

condensation and humidity can put traces of moisture in your tranny and thats all it takes to look milky , very common. Alot of racers change their fluid every other week but you can get by with a couple of times a year and it will be fine.

if you have washed the bike lately there is a really good chance that is where the water came from, espeacially if you stood the bike up. put a screw or small bolt in trans overflow tube prior to washing and make sure fill cap is tight. does fill cap still have O-ring seal in it?

That's all it is........ it don't take much water to make it milky. For what it cost and the little that it takes (120cc's I think) we used to change the trany oil every week when we raced cvt's. I guess after looking at the pics I should have said Kyle did.......lol

as long as we are on the subject, what type of oil do most people in the transmission on the CVT 90's?

I just happened to be in the gear box on ours this past weekend as well. Here's what a milky gear box looks like. You can see where the water comes in and it rusted the guide pin a little. Made the cover a little more challenging to remove.
