Look for cracks in the frame around the shock mounts, foot pegs, and check the swingarm for cracks.

If it's like brand new dont worry about ne thing, you alwyas can tell how bad its been beat by seeing cracks or welds, look at the palstic see if it's been beat, lok at the tires see how ripped up they are, make sure the axle bearings, front of the quad is nice and tyte and doesnt wiggle, make sure the quad starts right up and rev it high through the gears to make sure it dont f* up. Also ask him if he has had ne problems with it or if it needs anything..

Do a compression check if it's couple years old ..

I was gonna say make sure the frame is perfect, not even any rust marks.
Also ask the person if it ever hit a tree, or rolled. If they say it never hit a tree you can tell by any dents in the front bumper. If they say it was never rolled you can tell by it the plastic is scratched up. Thats the most basic stuff.

if they say they mix the gas at 32:1, or they just installed new reeds, that is probably not the 400ex you want

Check the rear end bearing. So many times the quad looks clean and the bearings are shot in the axle and/or a-arms.

When I go look at one, im gonna ask to put it on a jack or bucket and check out all the bearings, and take the rear fender off check out the air filter and air box. I'll take some pics for u guys.
