I have been looking around for a hybrid and have found a good deal on a Walsh with the Yamaha 426 motor. I've ridden a CRF450 hybrid, but I've never messed with the 426's and I don't know much about these motors, so I'm hoping some of you guys can give me some info on them.
*pro's/con's?
*weak links, known problems?
*any big bore cylinders available? seems I've heard of them being bumped to a 444? I may be wrong?
*parts interchangability with other YZ motors?
*power? The motor will be professionally built. It will be strictly a race motor. The bike will be TT raced against some modern production 450's with healthy motors. If the 426 ain't worth messing with or won't hang, then I would probably want to switch over to a CRF450 motor.
*any other thoughts or input?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

426'S ARE GREAT! they work better at 426cc's becuase they are high RPM engines. They have plenty of power, and there's no doubt that they can handle any 450 you throw at them! They really are great flattrack engines because of there power-band being higher in RPM's.
good luck!
