I would also like to know if you can put a auto gauge for temp on an EX...I think it would look cool to have gauges molded into the plastics!

I think for an EX you would need one with a lead that goes under the plug - like a race kart. I think oil temp is a better indicator on these quads though?

what is considered a dangerous oil or head temperature?

Anything over 300 degrees and most oils start to break down.

Would someone mind posting a link to where a person could order the oil temp gauge from? Thanks

so if the oil hits 300 degrees your head would be incredibly hot too and thats the signal for engine damage when the oil is like that? I wish those darn dipsticks werent like $40

$40 for a temp gauge or $400+ for all the damage you could be preventing...;)

So this temp gauge from xrsonly fits like stock without modification and has a mark for "full" like the stock? Thanks

yup, it has the threads and stuff to just screw in. it has markings on it too for the full line. If you keep your stock one you can check it anyway for the one or times at the beginning right after you change the oil. You will love it just to check your oil temps. I can wait to start riding after it is about 150 now instead of just getting on it after about 2 minutes. It is amazing to watch how long it takes to warm up to full temp. It was about 20 degrees here today and I watched it for awhile. The highest I have had my temp at in mid summer after riding hard is about 210 or 220. I have plenty of room for more heat just in case it is really hot. The scoops add alot to help too. you can really tell once you start riding after letting it run for a while. Good luck if you buy one, you will love it just for having that extra assurance. Steve
