OEM Vs Aftermarket Oil Filters

Any reason why run 1 over the other? I have always run OEM filters in all my bikes, but have thought about going aftermarket. Are there any disadvantages or advantages with an aftermarket oil filter?

I too run OEM Honda filters, but aftermarket filters aren't bad. You can run the EMGO, K&N, or FRAM filters without problems. I would stay with paper filters though, they have a finer filtration capability over the stainless steel aftermarket filters.

I run k&n and have no problems but I change my oil often

an aftermarket company makes the OEM filters they just get to charge more because they are OEM parts

i run the SS one and it works jsut fine.

it doesn't filter as much as the paper though. keep your oil changed and you will not have a prob. plus they are reusable.

That's not surprising one bit....much like "Honda" oil. I almost want to say that EMGO makes the Honda filters, they look quite similar.

I thought FRAM and Honda filters were the same

I use k and n filters all the time in mine but the rest get Emgo. My local dealer only sells emgo filters but when I buy parts I just get enough filters for the year. I think that honda filters are the emgo ones also. Steve

I prefer OEM filters. Servicehonda.com sells them for about $4 each.
