I have a 2002 4oo ex. when i bought it it had a oil tank that has holes in it. The holes are prob about an inch, obviously to keep the oil cooler. But what kind of advantage would i get if i took of my stock oil tank and installed this one? I haved a feeling the kid i bought it from raced it it had a 440 kit and works shocks. Do you think that oil tanks was used for racing? Thanks for your help...

If you have a 440 kit leave the oil tank with holes on it it holds one more quart than stock and coolers the engine more and is needed with the big bore also due you know what compresion piston the big bore has if its 12 to 1 you should be using race gas

yes that tank holds more oil and lets air threw to help cool but i heard people who put them on say they dont work very well.

when i got the quad it was knocking really bad. whoever bored it out bored it a little bit too much and the piston was able to move back and forth. So i got a new jug and just rebuilt it back to 400. In the stuff he gave me with the quad was the oil tank. I was just wondering if i would gain anything from installing the bigger tank. I have the stock tank on now and am probably going to leave it alone. I appreciate the advice!

You would benefit only in how much cooler it will be compared to stock with the stock tank. i would put it in just to have the extra and if it works great if not then it does not. Steve
