Tires and shocks??

When riding through trails is it better to have soft or hard tires?....and how much of a difference would new shocks have over the stock ones?

A stiffer tire is gonna ride harsher but will be more puncture resistant. As for shocks I just rode with my new custom axis this weekend and I could have sworn the trails were paved?? Also this is at tower city running over rocks the size of basketballs...was actually trying to hit rocks just 'cause I could..LoL

suspension makes a HUGE difference
