Need some help tuning up.

k guys so i bought that 400ex some of you know i told u about..

and i need to change the oil... weres the drain plug?

what kinda oil do i need? valvoline 4 stroke 10w-40?
do i need a oil filter or no?


and how do u adjust valves? it doesnt need it.. but just asking

drain the tank first.. theres a drain bolt underneath it, then drain the crankcase and change the oil filter. the crankcase bolt is behind the shifter. any 10w40 without friction modifiers should be ok for this time of year. i prefer rotella t fully synthetic 5w40 for the winter and mobil 1 mx4t 20w50 for the summer. change your oil filter, spark plug, and clean your carb and air filter. you should be set. for the valves, read this.

They may, its a fram 6015 motorcycle filter. GL

omg i love that quad!! i love the black rims.. i want white plastic where do u get it?

thanks...it is the second white 400ex i have had....i love the white on them...the white plastic is made by maier and i purchased it from rocky mountain atv.com and the rims are hiper carbon fiber rims...purchased from instigator racing...

it is a 2000 416ex with 2005-2007 plastics on it. i traded a 2006 450r for it and some cash...wasn't a big fan of the 450r...here is a pic of it...

rocky mountain was the only place i found with the white in stock...at least the maier...i would have liked to have fullbore, but i wasn't spending that much $$$...$300 for maier was plenty...lol

i would suggest you get a gripper seat cover. i like mine better than others i have ridden on, but i won't advertise for the company as we have had some differences of opinion...it is also where i got all the graphics that you see on all of the ex's(450r graphics came from one industries). a guts (http://www.gutsracing.com/) seat cover would be my next choice...they don't have atv covers listed, but they make them...just hit the "contact us" link and ask them.... l
