Hey guys,
I'm going to be running a bigger oil cooler on my quad. I'm wanting to know if anybody has an idea where I can find something to put in front of it to keep sticks and stuff from getting to it.
Something that would mount to the frame here

You may have to fab a bracket for it. But I am sure it would work. The other thing its very rare that a rad get punctured by a stick, rock etc. There are many a atv out there with much bigger, more exposed rads. jat

Do you know where I can get ahold of an oil cooler. I want something that looks good on the quad. The one the people at the shop showed me I didn't like to well. I want something that looks like what would be on a 450 or something. I know I know they are liquid coolers, but I'm sure they make oil coolers out there like that.

heres an FST.. does the job nicely. if you google FST 400ex oil cooler you'll find pictures of the guard that they sell with the kit. my bumper is pretty much big enough to block anything coming at the cooler.

I have heard the Ford 150 tranny cooler fits up nice. There is a thread on here regarding the same. Why are you going to a bigger cooler are you running a 440?

Alright. It looks better now that I see it on a quad. Yea. I'm going to be running a 440bore with a stroked crank. 13:1 compression. I was told it wouldn't run too hot because of the 110 octane, but I just wanna make sure I never have to worry about it overheating.

you may also want to look in a fan as well

Yea. We were going to run a trial on it without a fan to see how it would do, and then put a fan on it if it didn't work out.

currently still in the works for my hayabusa oil cooler install, it is almost a direct bolt on and is a perfect fit and the cost is very cheap. the oil cooler flange is the same too! i will keep u guys updated
i wont be able to take pics because it should already be installed when i get there to pick it up

i would think the fan would do a lot better at cooling with your 13to1 set up than the bigger oil cooler. Both would complement each other though.

odog i dont think thats the best place for it. its so close to the exhaust header it might radiate heat into it. i think there a reason the put it up front mostly. but its up to you.
