changed oil today? help?

so today i changed my oil and my oil filter. it only drained about a half a quart of oil?!!?!? and took 1 quart. what did i do wrong???? i know it is supposed to take more than that. i drained the oil from the crankcase drain. should i open up the drain at the bottom of the oil tank?? cause it didn't say to do that in the service manual.

yea definatly empy the oil tank to.
your supposed to empty both.

k well i'll do that next time. should you drain it from the same place as the oil strainer?? or is there a drain at the bottom of the tank?

drain it from the oil reservour then drain the crankcase. fill it through the reservour it will take slightly under 2 qts

essentially, you just wasted a qt of oil...i would redo all of it now as what was in the tank will be old and used, and in the same condition as what came from the motor...
