I want to do a big bore for my 400ex, but dont know to go 416,425, or 440.
I like to dragrace, but I still want it to be rideable because we do alot of fast trail riding. Can I do a 440, with hotcam stage 2, port work, curtis sparks x-4, and still have a rev happy motor? I have heard that the 440s dont like to rev, and the 416 love to rev? Can anyone help me?

My 416 definately revs faster than my buddy's 440. But his has more low end grunt. Although his stills revs good enough to easily hit the stock rev limiter. Your combo looks good with one exception. The X-4 was designed for stock bikes. You're gonna need the X-6 which was designed for big bore's.

i have to agree with GNCCer, i had a 416 that ran really really well. then i got the 500 stroker from fourstroke tech and man what a ride. none of my buddys can hang. even the piped and jetted banshee with reeds and all the bolt on stuff. worth the money i say stroke it!

I've never seen any power gains and I stroke it alot. Maybe that explains my tennis elbow!

Ok, I only ride trails and dunes. What would be the perfect (nevermind price, just give it to me) setup. I no nothing about 4 stroke engines, or engine packages, and I want the most power, with the best reliability. Thx guys.

Is there any thing I could do to a 440 to make it rev like a 416?
Like shave the flywheel?
What Kind of power can you make out of a 440, vs 416, or 425/
