I was wondering if anyone had some ideas on how to make my 400ex thumb throttle easier for 2hr races?

Cable was new and is always lubed.

Different return springs? Anyone know what works with a stock carb?

trx90 thumb lever? What is the difference?

Thanks

work out your hand (i'm serious), and i believe the TRX has a longer thumb portion so there is more leverage to push. You could buy a piece that they sell or fab up your own extension to it.

Yes - I am just looking for any little secrets to make it easier to hold the throttle pinned for 2 hrs.

beags86 - I ride a couple private farms around dubuque area. Sometimes we will head to solon or waterloo, ia. I race harescrambles also. Where are you at?

thanks for the info guys

Ride a YFZ for a while, then go back to your Honda, it will feel like pushing nothing.;)

what?! The YFZ has the FCR and is by far the easiest throttle i've pushed it felt like it was hydralic or something it was effortless. Now the stiffest is the yamaha banshee. It gives you a work out to make turns and to just go.

no not really, i used to know a guy that had a huge field that he built a mx track on, it was on a hill side in a cow pasture, pretty good homemade track(just had to watch out for the cow pies.lol)
it was open on the weekends and free, just show up and ride, didn't even have tell him. then some kid broke his hip and someone got invovled and shut him down. now i am forced to farmer fields( the ones that i know) and i do a fair amout of illegal road riding....it's a real bi*ch on the holeshots!

never even been to rockford, been to byron and oregon, but not rockford, what it like anyways, i heard mixed reviews about it, and whats it cost?

Must be why all the yamaha guys put 400ex thumb throttles on and softer return springs.:p

I used to have a banshee, it was one of the toughest for sure.

what i did might be one of a kind but i took the springs in the carb and stretched them but dont over stretch or your throttle might stay where it is:( and wd40 the holy he.. out of it so it will slide better cause you dont want a .5 pound throttle to stick.

remove the spring from the thumb throttle housing and run a trx90 lever;)

It's not much, but it helps to take it out.
