Purchased the quad over the weekend. Son loves it so far. The quad runs perfect, but it is kind of tough to start when its cold. Any particular trick to it. Found that the choke half way seems to be the best position. Thanks for any help.

Need help with choke. Can not start the quad with just the choke. I have to press the throttle slightly to keep it running until it warms up, no matter the position of the choke. The choke does not seem to raise the idle at all and will stall no matter what position the choke is in. Thanks for the help.

you might try to clean the carb first if it is a 07 probably been sitting with gas in it.

Thanks for the tip. I just dropped it back off and they mentioned it might be that as well. They are going to go through the carb under warranty and go from there. Thanks again for the help.

Dealer called, cleaned out carb, stated they found a lot of build up from sitting. Stated it starts better, but the choke still does not operate. The choke does not bring up the idle what so ever. They are calling Polaris today. Does anyone have the same quad. Does the choke bring up the idle like any other does? Thank you for the help.

depends what kind of carb it has. Chokes that bring up idle are not real chokes they use them on vacuum carbs. Most carbs have a butterfly thing that chokes the carb they don't rev up when choked

Okay, thank you. All of my other quads do bring up the idle, so that would be a first for me. If that the case, great. Problem, was, it would not stay running without the throttle. Maybe the cleaning helped, or at least I hope. Thanks for the reply.

The cleaned carb may help but it will still be hard to start when it's cold. Out of the 10+ quads I have bought in the last 20 years this is the hardest staring one of them all.

So far I have not been able to find any aftermarket or perfomance parts for it either. I wish my daughter had never seen the damn pink quad in the first place.

Thanks for the reply. They ended up cleaning the carb, and changing the jets. It starts better, but by far the worst for us as well. We have 4 other 50.s that start like a dream. This one is very picky. But, my son loves the size of it, the lights, and the horn, so I am dealing with it. Thanks again.

Yes sorry, the newer ones are 4strokes,and yes no performance kits out for these, but FMF has a slip on exhaust for the 90 and you may be able to adapt this to the 50 aswell and clutch springs and roller kits may also fit the 50,look back in earlyer posts about outlaw 90 some guys made their own mods before any of the bolt on stuff was for sale.Scroll down on this link.
