hey y'all i want to run my 310 in some radar runs this winter.Anybody ever run any with studs? I wanted to run flat track but, i'm unemployed and the last thing i need to spend cash on is a few bags of screws and a lowering kit.I have some old tires around and some snowmobile studs and thought about studding em up and trying my hand at a lil straight line speed.
I want to get an idea of what general speeds i should expect... or heck start a discussion if anything else:D

i took the fenders off my 86 sat on the air box and used the front tires and rims off my 87 250x and got 92 mph in 1000 ft. i used pro gold ice screws. i can,t rember what gearing i had on, i had at one time a 16 tooth front sprocket, but i don,t rember if it would pull it with the taller tires. my 86 was pretty stock back then (1991) the snowmobile studs eat to much power and it's hard to keep your tires balanced it will shake the **** out of you

I run studded Turf Tamers/rear and studded Fast Trekkers/front for playing on ice. I just use cold cutters. You'll be surprised how much they hook up!!! Pull's wheelies all day long. We run frozen rivers and lakes with some trails that interconnect everything.

Yeah, theres a fine line. Put too many in and the quad will "skate" to much. Believe it or not you do want to still use the rubber as added traction. Sounds crazy but you can overstud a tire!

you can buy a bag of 1000 screws for $80. i run 320 in the rear shin c826s and less than that in the front. as you can see by the pic they hook good. we are pitching these things into the corner at 60 to 80 mph!

490 screws in each rear and about 440 in each front. I just did the rears up for last weekend. Grand total of 1860 screws.

Are you just going for radar runs or all around ice riding? well for now as stated earlier i'm unemployed so i can't spend the $ to set up the r for flat trak, so i just want to run a radar run just to get that itch outta me.
