For that kind of money, I would just buy a GasGas. I got the chance to take lt250r91's for a quick spin around the parking lot and part of the track yesterday. WOW, talk about impressive. The power was real smooth with lots of bottom end and the suspension was sweet. I couldn't get over the power delivery. It is nothing like the Shee's and R's that I've ridden. It has lots of low end torque and just pulls strong. No real "hit" like people are used to, but at the same time, just give it a touch of clutch and the thing just screems. I will know better here in 2 weeks. We are getting together to have a little shootout with another friends 400EX and lt's C-Dale Speed and GasGas. Too bad my R was stolen, then we would have a real interesting time.

that would be sweet, i just read it in my DW mag. 45 HP stock, nice. 8000 is kind of expensive, but it is still pretty good deal considering that no other quad for that price has that kind of horsepower.

Actually, the new GasGas does. And it comes with Ohlins 46 series all the way around for a price of $8000. And it is available right now.

making this bike is definately cool.

I just talked with doug from service honda and asked him about the quad.

Its not set in stone exactly whats goin on with it.

So far he said its pretty much a stock 400ex with a GUSSETED FRAME, re adjusted pivot position for the motor and a cr250 motor.

Some of doug gusts friends are workin on testing the bike.(beating the crap out of it)

they are working with pro circuit and fmf to make pipes for em..
the bike should be released some time soon.

The cr 250 motor is a potent power plant.

I'd take it over the gas gas.

i think the price is a little high...

ive HEARD of it but havent SEEN IT! to me 8000 is to much and even for a stock honda cr250 in a 400ex. to me after puttin in another 7000 to get it somewhat mx race ready, i could spend that 15,000 to get a damn good houser crf450r that would romp on the new cr250/400ex machine

I will buy one !! service honda did a top notch job on the 500c motocrosser they built, cr250 with 500c motor.

mabye they are just making the price that high cause they need money to get out of all the debts from making it. maybe after a couple months of it out they'll drop the price a thousand or something. just a thought.

Ah two question why a Cr250 with no counter ballance and not just a R motor. witch brings me to my next question has anyone done this?

I would say they are using the cr250 motor because it makes 45 hp stock to a stock 250r motors 27hp + just a hunch but where are the 250cc motors going that they have been taking out of the cr250s to make ther 500cc bikes they are currently selling proubly killing two birds with one stone, selling the extra motors and getting rid of the 400ex s which the dealer have to give away just to sell they are so out dated, you will proubly see the 400ex motors on ebay LOL!

maybe they are tryin to make an aniversery 250r, but im sure most people rather have a 450ex. And maybe a 7000 price tag.:D

I wouldn't like that. Also u could get alot more hp out of the cr250 motor. I think this is a good idea!!

Quadracer5,
Send a PM to lt250r91. His dealer has a 300HP in stock and a 450 4-stroke coming sometime in Jan or Feb. The dealer is located in eastern Ohio close to the I-77/I-70 interchange. The dealer is really interested in the quads and seems like a pretty good guy. He made the 1 1/2 hour drive to watch lt race it for the first time last weekend at a D-11 harescramble.

raptor-02,
You can bolt the cylinder/piston from the 250 bike right on to get it to 250. The 300/250 bikes have identical engines, just different bore cylinders/pistons. Same principal as what you see with TRX250Rs with 310 kits, just in reverse order if you will. And for the horsepower issue, the GasGas bikes do have a reputation for making smooth, strong power.

I am not trying to say that these are the greatest quads ever and everything else sucks, but if you are willing to ride something other than a Honda and are looking for a high performance quad, you would be doing yourself a disservice if you did not look into them.
