has anyone had problems with the bolts on their shifters?

about 4 months ago my shifter just completly went loose on me, then we took it off to find that the bolt was a little stripped, so we tightened it back down so that i would stay put and continued on

then about 4 days after this past christmas, i went in for a service and to put my knarlys on and i asked them to fix it

well now its the 7th of feb. and i finally got it back from my dad and went to ride around at a local boggin hole and the shifter did the same thing and now the bolt is so warn that if its tightened down much it will snap

has this happened to anyone else or am i just cursed?

ha
really

thats weird
i wonder if its just the constant movement and wear that makes them go bad?

idk
are shifters really 60$
they dont seem to me like they would cost that much

its probably the constant movement of the shifter and it wears it out
or they could be defective?
i dont know

im going to the dealer sometime soon to get it all replaced becuase im probably going to a cross country race in the next month and i want it to hold together

know this is an old thread
but an update on it

this past week my shifter went loose AGAIN
we took it off to find that all the teeth inside of it that grab onto the selector shaft were almost completly worn off

we cut into the notch that makes it tighter and we ended up snapping 2 bolts and eventually said the hell with it

it will be back with a new shifter from the dealer this saturday:D

just a suggestion, but look on ebay. IMS shifters for 400ex's aren't even $60. thats ridiculous.

i think this one was covered under warranty
im going to read the service notice when my dad gets back with it today to see what all they did and what it cost

it was done at the dealer along with a couple other minor things that were wrong with it

Not bad, but how come you send it to the dealer? Services are a joke to do on the 250.

Edit: Regarding the shifter issue, I have NEVER had mine come loose.
