Looking into buying a 2005 Ford F350 Harley Edition and it's got the 6.0 Powerstroke. How are these motors and anything to look out for?

The truck has 42 000 miles on it ... originally from Florida but imported up here. 6" Pro Comp lift , 20s with 33 " tires, K&N intake and filter.

Sounds like a nice truck, i have a 06' powerstroke i have had no problems, they got most the bugs out of that engine by 05' i believe. I also live in florida and i have 40k so your truck will be close to mine. 33s sound tiny for that lift, i have a 6" lift and i run 37s on 20s. Just take care of it, make sure it got its 30k mile tune up when it was supposed to. Also make sure its not chipped and it does not have a full exhaust or your 100k warranty is gone.

you should be fine as long as that 30k tune up was done, and i wouldn't worry about that exhaust and tuner, the chances that those are going to cause an issue are slim and i don't think you'll be headed to the dealer for warranty work any time soon. but definitely upgrade to 35s if you buy it, 33s look dinky on a 6inch lift lol

i would rather get the older 7.3 turbo diesel any day of the weak.

getting tough to find without high miles, i would personally rather have the 7.3 also but hey, if hes gonna get a decent deal on this 6.0 then why not?

looks good but it definitely could use some 35s. me personally would never buy a lifted truck because usually they are beat on not always though sometime you can find a mall crawler. also with having bigger tires then stock the mileage is probably more then it says to.

notorious for head gaskets going bad...the dealers pull the cab off the truck to replace it

Not sure of the life it had in Florida ... but the guy that owns it up here says he only towed a snowmobile trailer around in search of snow.

I have an 06 6.O power stroke with 36K miles and no problems and a buddy has an 03 6.0 with over 100K and no problems.

Nice looking truck, get some 35s under it and your golden. Florida trucks are the best we dont have hills or snow so the trucks stay in much better shape.

by 06 your motor should be good, the early 6.0L had major problems, we had an 04 and by the 50k mark we went through 3 turbos, 3 EGR valves and 2 EGR coolers, all at seperate times, other then that tho the truck was great everything about the truck was awesome but couldnt be relied apon and warrenty was going to run out so we traded in for a new duramax

yeah but u got alot of sand and sand is hard on bearings and everything else. I would never want a florida truck or one from the west coast!

They still had injector and tranny problems in '05. Ford doesn't use international to build their motors anymore because they wouldn't stand behind warranties and ford had to eat the repairs.

Yes international navistar still makes the motors BUT I wouldn't look for their contract to be renewed

anywhere without sand haha. I just know a few people that got trucks from down in florida and they had to replace all the wheel bearings and stuff with low mileage.

because everybody chips them, plugging in a computer chip and getting an extra 150hp what do you expect

It's got a Bully Dog chip in it ... the guy said he can remove though. And I was talking to my buddy that is a diesel mechanic , apparently you can have the ECU downloaded on the truck and it will tell you if codes ever came up, what the highest speed it was ever driven at, any repair work done , etc.
