Head cleaning

Anyone out there, whats the best stuff you've found to clean the head without damaging valve seals. I have a carbon build up in my exhaust port (exhaust leak, too rich) and would like to clean it up before re assembly. Not sure if carb cleaner will eat the seats....will try gas

use carb cleaner its similar to alcohol. use a metal brush to wide it clean

sure that will not eat the seals? I tried some gas with a soft bristled brush and was a slow process...need something with more umph
