I dont know how your recording but when trying to do the drums with the guitar rather than separate hang a carpet in front of the drum set it will muffle and should clear up the drums. From the clip you posted it sounded like jumbled random noises.

Sounds like a song to me..

Its a ROUGH mix dude.

Im recording the best way I can since I have strep throat and had to stay home...

And I dont have any spare carpet to put in front of my drums. Lol. Wanna send me some?

EDIT: My kick drum is on a different track from my cymbals, snare, toms, etc. So I dont think I have a problem with them being jumbled?

Maybe elaborate on what your saying. I mean, I like criticism as long as its constructive.

I like your band alot!

The only thing it needs (IMHO) is some lower backing vocals in places.

The triggers on my kick drums seem to be an aquired taste for many... maybe thats what you dont like about them?

02-06-2009, 08:42 PM
ah yes, triggers can be cool but also sound too much like a drum machine, but they are awesome live and in good professional recordings.

and ya that band was one we through togeather to play a few shows, the singer straight up blows lol and i wanna go back to the studio to get a cd made without vocals haha, i do agree it needed lower vocals and less of his highpitched crap haha! we always said he sounded like a witch

Lol, well I had strep all day, and decided to do some vox anyways (kicks self in arse... HARD).

But if you wanna check my band out just click right <a href="http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=402489332">here</a>.

The vocals on "eviscerated" need to be redone.. in the worst way. Never let your friends talk you into doing vocals when you've had to much to drink...

EDIT: My vocals are NOT present in Bukkake Warrior.. just to clarify. I had nothing to do with that song. Lol.

are you guys trying to pig squeal in all the songs? uve got a pretty decent sound, but definately need a vocal change, a normal scream would sound SO much better, lol. im not trying to talk crap about your band either, just my opinon. i would love to have a band, i come up with riffs all the time on my guitar that i would love to put in a song:(

Like I said, the vocals in "eviscerated" need to be redone badly.

And the drummer for the band did the vocals in Bukkake Warrior, since I wasn't there.

I personally dont like the squealing, but the drummer and lead guitarist do. Im more of a Suicide Silence vocalist.

I like high pitched screams with lower backing vocals.

We're getting there though. Not bad for a group of 16 and 17 year olds.

Abandoned In the Wild download (http://www.soundclick.com/util/downloadSong.cfm?ID=7313326) (3.33MB) - you might have to sign up.

That was pretty sweet but needs work, sounds deeeecent. I wish I knew someone to jam with.

I moved my kit around this week and it made a nice difference. I had to learn to do rolls on the toms another way and it didn't take long. Try the stick twirl by dropping it over your second finger and flick it around with your third. It's hard to do if you don't trust that the stick won't hit you in the eye :(, been trying to master that one . I started in grade 1 and sold my set from grade 6 to grade 10 and switched twice, and the only song I'm pretty good at is Toxicity by SOAD and Subdivisions by Rush lol. That second tom is actually the smallest one and it's sitting on a bucket LOL. JB style :chinese:. I got a doublekick last x-mas and its sweet but it always moves on me. Thats why it's against a door, the set moves away every couple minutes. That ride is the only one of about 20 cymbals I havn't busted. I also found that first cymbal and don't know where I got it, just after I destroyed a stand thread, the cymbal fell off and cracked too. One thing I've noticed about all great beats is that it's not so much 16th notes etc but it's what you leave out. You don't need a double kick at all, a quick two/three hitter is all you need. Try to do a one handed roll with the hit-and-lift technique, it's mad hard. Just remember that when you're switching toms, use whatever hand is available the fastest, IE - start with L, end with R, start with L, and get used to it real slow and it just makes more sence. When I play my friends are like "I can't even see your hands!" but if my sticks hit eachother it's over LOL! I'm not too sure what I'm doing at speed.

sometimes, i really cant stand when people talk about technique and technical aspects of drums....dont get me wrong it is all very important...however people need to just play, drums imo are all about feel. its something that i cant explain but when i play i know im not sitting there thinking about L R L L R or rolls or tripplets.. just play the damn things... FEEL FEEL FEEL!

heres some of my kit, its the best pictures i have ...

what my face looks like when my cymbal tips :(

Technique is feel. Technique is putting what your doing into english. It's just an explanation, doing things another way, remember it's always for simplicity. I won't even bother to read music cuz in the end if you don't put it into 'feel' you won't get anywhere, so it's probably better to just not even bother with a teacher saying "NO NO NO" and just go your own way :p . For me it's more like 'today I learned' then later 'perfected'.

feel and technique are not the same thing... guess it depends on how you interpret it all tho...to me, feel is feeling the song and just letting go and what comes out comes out, technique is holding ur sticks right, different notes, different ways to hit ect... i know what ur saying tho, i took like 2 weeks of lessons a long time ago and quit cuz it was the biggest waste of time, some teachers can really help others are like play these songs from this old *** book over and over...its a joke
