1) This sub section doesnt see a ton of traffic from older members

2) The Tecate was a pretty rare bird. It was infact the first sport atv I ever saw...floating upside down in a creek:huh :p

How much did you pay for your 4? I've only seen one for sale........(in AK of course) for $3000

I mentioned age due to the fact that most of theyounger members have never heard of a Tecate nor seen one.

It was upside down because the owner had never riden before and crossed a creek that was to deep. The quad just rolled over on its side and floated:p We were on 3 wheelers and looking at the tires we all thought at first it was a lawnmower due to teh tread pattern and its color.

This was back in the 80's..quads were a new thing:p

Actually, i trade my 250x for it, i paid 1,000 for that and added fmf powercore 4, 400ex arms, renthals and cut the fenders. He was looking for cash and just sold that, i dont know how much he got tho. The Tecate needed some work though..currently im restoring/rebuilding it. Right now its getting sandblasted, then sent to powercoating from there. cant wait to get it back!

Oh I hate you... 250r's, banshees, and t4's are so hard to find here, and when you do its a lot of money.

I found this beauty for $3000. I wish I had 3grand to spend :ermm:

A 1988 Tecate-4 was my first quad......way back in 1990.It had aftermarket reeds,an FMF exhaust and a set of Holeshots on it.I rode the hell out of that quad.I wish I had it back just to keep in the corner of the garage to look at :p

you should have done your research, if i'm not mistaken, even beat up stock parts are hard to find for that, let along new ones. if its green, you wont find a headlight cover from what ive heard. they look great when they are clean tho and they sure can run

Your right, most parts are hard to find for t4, white radiator shrouds are near impossible to find, and those headlight covers in nice shape aswell. Alot of engine parts that wear down suck to find too. I cant wait to get some more money to start my engine rebuild, frame is pretty close to being done.

I still have my T4 it sets as a display in the back of my shop mainly but she still runs like a champ every time I do pull it out. If you would like to find more stuff for the T4 go to or you can go to and look in the tecate section in the forums. You can find just about everything you need there and even download free repair manuals.

Thanks for the info, Jonboy, but i already have a kawieriders account, Tecate-Rider, and i do plan on buying a few items from rockhound in the near future. Im assuming you have a kawieriders acc? what is your acc name on there?

I have two right now. Just sold a third one a while back.

One I am completely rebuilding and it is almost finished. 330 bigbore

The other needs some work, but it runs strong. It has a KX top end on it.
