As and engineering student, this is probably one of the coolest things I've seen in along time...

...really shows that bmw is ahead of the curve when it comes to imaginary thinking.

"Even the shape of the car can change" well thats not good.

What happens when you get road dirt and mud and grime on it and the cloth fibers stains. If you want a red car, UV exposure (given time) will turn your red car pink.

if you saw the skin when it was unstretched, its shiny, im sure water and dirt just runs off of it.

The thing I see wrong with this is that the lil punk arses in the world get a wild hair and instead of slashing tires they start slashing car bodies....:grr:

^^^ have a point there but i would think that, that would be along the same guidelines as keying a car either way your messing up the body..But overall i really like it think its a cool new approach to the car industry. I'm just wondering what the base price on this thing will be  lol

Im just worried about the guy who thinks its funny to run a knife down the side of your car.

As a engineer I love it. As a car buff I want it! I had heard that it is for sale already in Europe? If it is true or not I have no idea. The only one I have ever heard about is the Z8 model that was at the new york auto show and the one in the BMW museum.

Definately cool.

ya, but if you listen to the video, the guy said that the entire skin can be put on a car in about 2 hours....that pretty impressive...

if you dont like the color anymore, jsut change it..

and i would imagnie that if it was ever put into real production, which it may be already, they probably have taken in the factors of color fad, getting wet dirty...and as for vandelism..well i have no idea

Tell you what I think about that... Insurance would either love it or hate it. Depending on the price of a new skin. If it was cheaper to resking a car instead of repaint it. Get my drift!

Most beemers need to be completely re-shot to make them look right after minor accidents. This would be simple especially at two hours to re-due.

tell me if im seein this right... all it really is is a flexable skin cover that hides all the sems of the car??? if so i not impressed at all

yaaaa as a fan and owne of a BMW i think this is just stupid.... what about rocks hitting it all the time or anything that has already been mentioned....i think it will never get anywhere...good thought tho... i guess?
