also, your throttle cable is routed over it, and it probably helps keep it nice a little longer.

ever since i had my 400ex its been off cause i took it off and you want to keep the round things that press on your tank on, but yah i have no problems and i would think the tank can handle the heat but if you wanted and i was thinking about doing this is get some type of a flexable heat shield thats sticky on one side and put it on it but other than that its done perfect for me.

i wouldn't take it of and why would you even want to it seems pointless.

i have been taken it on an off latly messing with my 400 and its anoying and also could shed some wait and make it cleener

i think you should consider working out/ eating less before you consider trying to lose weight by taking off parts like that..

that plastic piece dosn't even weigh a pound i could take a good piss and loose that much weight.

Ihad problems with fuel boiling and vapor locking the line with it off on mine. I say leave it on.

if you do it, atleast put a light weight adhesive heat shield undet some of your tank, that was what i was going to do in the first place and it will ease your mind of the what if's, but like i said before, leave the things on in the back that gives the tank support

ya it is a heat shield, if you have head heat radiating directly to the tank it changes the density of the fuel and can throw off your jetting!!! so ya take it off it only weigh's like 4 onces, im sure you have that much mud caked to your frame LOL :devil:
