man that is a nice 400ex but dont you think your money is in the wrong places? its just my opinion but instead of $300 or so flexx bars get some good renthal fatbars or simuler bars and have some left to get a new stem or a good used one, and the shocks, man, there is a lot of money there that could of been used elsewher, like cheaper good ones and have hundreds left for like new plastics, nerf bars, skids, motor work. i dont want to get you mad but this is my opinion:D but yah thats way nicer than mine.

No offence taken

I got alot of my stuff cheap when I lived in CA. I had alot of hook ups.
Flexx bars blow away others, I have fat bars on my CRF and they do not compare. Got mine via a friend from the designer when they first came out. Cost me $125

Far as the stem, never had a problem with the original so never replaced it.

The motor is built, nothing left to do, had a old honda factory mech build the head and carb. Its a 440, don't want to go bigger.

Suspension, all I can say is once you go Custom AXIS you don't go back...lol.

Not to say less expensive ones are bad but the difference between decent and AXIS, Elka or Fox on a 60ft double is a big deal.

Craked both of the rear mounts on the DG nerfs. DG makes you send them back so they can install the new mounts. "For insurance reasons" they told me. Pretty lame

Thanks,

I hope it comes out good. I think the black/white and metalic red and chrome will go well.

I guess we will see when its all assembled in a few weeks.

Ya, I bought it new in 02 before the 450's were out. Modded most of the stuff by 04 when the 450r just came out. I considered switching to a 450 this year (they are dirt cheap right now, well everything is).
I figured spend a few bucks, race it the rest of this year then build an 05 450r. Keep this as my play bike.

In the end, if I was to start now I would build a 450 over the 400. The aftermarket industry supports them alot more and you just can't beat liquid cooled motors.

AZ440ex - I saw you at the Grinding Stone race 2 weeks ago.
I intended to come over and introduce myself, but I got side tracked.... my wallet got lost / stolen, so once I was done with the race I was too bummed to talk.

I was on the silver 400ex #609 40+B with all white riding gear on, well semi white anyway!

How do you like those Gibson a - arms??

Peace out

Bummer about the wallet, have you talked to Gary to see if one was turned in?

I am very happy with the gibson front end. It handles well. I think for the 450 next year I am going whith Houser Slicast and fox floats or Axis pro air. Unfortunately without series mods none of my current suspension will fit a R.

I will make sure to say hello next race:D

Thanks, I hope so. I have been looking for graphics for the Lakers with no luck.

Spoke to BRM Offroad and they are willing to use my Lakers for the template so soon they should be easier to come by for everyone else.

A big thanks to Brm Offroad. I searched all over for graphic companies that had kits for lakers. BRM stepped up and offered to make templates off my bike. They are finished making the templates off my Laker plastics and now can make graphic kits for us with lakers.

Should have pictures soon!!!:D

Looks really sick man. I like how the gussets arent just plain triangles, small but nice little touch. Also keep rockin the big gun. No one likes them pipes and I love mine! I had painted mine black if you did that or white would be a nice lil extra.
