If you're after fun and have some cylinders and some money you're not attached to I'd say give it a try! Everyone starts somewhere. Solid study (and understanding it) and time will help you get better results though. Two strokes need more smart tuners and advocates these days!

If the macdizzy site it still up and running it is an excellent source of information that will give you a BASIC grasp on porting. I agree with all250r you have to start somewhere, and I have a degree of respect for people that put the time and work in to building it alone. With that being said using a builder usually will yeild you better results for round one or your first time. Pick you up an extra cylinder and give it a shot, but dont ruin your only cylinder.

i would start off by porting a ruined cylinder. just to see if your even made for it. if you have the patients and the time. have someone look at it and see what they think like gassrx, flotek or neil.

Its actually pretty simple but practice make perfect and you have to know the limitations of what your working with. And what your actually looking for out of the port job.

more info on how to start i have a spare kx 80 cylinder...
