i don't think i have posted this but anyway my 2000 rancher started smoking and pumping oil out the exhaust pipe.i am going to tear it down but does anyone have a idea of what i may find??

Most likely you'll find a need for a bore job.

What i thought.Owell i guess i will tear it down and get it done.Does any one make a high comp piston for the ranchers?

Check out highlifter dot com. They have JE pistons make custom stuff like that for many utes,

you know what sucks is i bought it while it was still in the shop getting rebuilt.guess someone didn't do the job right.

got it apart today.rings are not broken and appear to have good tension.gonna take the head to get checked next week and order a piston kit and get it back together.


i need some specs if anyone can help me.i need torque specs for the head and valve train plus the valve adjustment setting please.thanks

Measure your cylinder before you order a piston, it's possible you don't need one.

I would but i am going to install a high comp piston and have the head ported also.

alright.got everything here but the cylinder.it js being bored right now.anyone got the valve specs and torque specs?

2000 rancher 350 valve clearance
both intake and exhaust = 0.15mm (0.006in)

Cylinder acorn head nuts = 29ft-lb (39 Nm)
Rocker arm holder bolt = 22ft-lb (30Nm)

the two 6mm bolts = 106 in.-lb(12Nm)

Valve adjuster locknut = 12ft.-lb (17Nm)
