I have been thinking about redoing my frame, I want to change the color but I dont know of anywhere to get it powdercoated near where i live and dont want to spring for shipping it off. My solution is to take it and have it sprayed with rhino lining have any of yall seen this done, how did it look, hold up, ect.

Bad ideal b/c you will be adding a lot of weight. Plus that stuff is not as durable as they say it will chip and stuff, also it will get real dirty. Oil will make it look bad too.

IMO, DONT DO IT

its pretty tough i have had it in my last 2 trucks and i only knocked one chip out of either in 5 yrs of hard use. i have noticed that dirt stains it pretty bad if i let it stay on it for too long. and as for the oil on the black in my truck it doesnt look bad with oil on it i have had spills in the back before. what else could i use that is durable without having to send everything off for powdercoating

You can get it off but it'll take some work.

im not planning on doing this tomorrow i have a whole list before i get to the frame this idea was just rolling around, if i do it the bed liner will be colored not black, i just want something that will last my 400 is less than 2 yrs old and it is scratched up bad plus its still that boring grey and its time for a change

I have had it in my trucks, three of them, since 2004 and it does get scratched and comes off in chunks if your hard on it. Plus that would prob be just as expensive if not more than powder coat. It will also weight a lot more. Its up to you but i still think its a bad idea.

Yeah i understand what you are saying i know it can crack, the weight doesnt bother me any really i dont care bout it too much, if i had somewhere in driving distance to take it to have pc'ed i would hands down but i dont so im trying to figure out something else to use, PS i know a guy who owns a body shop and cuts me deals on my work the labor is next to nothing i just have to cover paint costs for the most part all i have to do is tell people who did it if they ask, he shaved my tails and molded in a roll pan for me on my last truck for next to nothing just for a way to show off his work, so i might just do paint and do some advertising for him again

That sounds like a much better idea, plus i heard if you clear coat it a couple extra times it helps with the durability of the paint. Plus the color choices are endless talk to pappy he might be able to give you a rough quote on what shipping might be b/c he ships frames all the time to his customers. He has a section of the forum for his PC business called BK i think. If you still want to go that route.

there has to be some were to powder coat in south east texas unless you live in a small town. we have a powder coater in chas. sc. you really need to call around to all your cycle shops, bmx shops, car rim places (they can put a rainbow clear or smoked chrome look on chrome rims) even if you have to drive 100 miles that aint to bad.
