How would you rate the port work from the pics. It is supposed to tx9 portng (mid-upper). The cylinder looks good itself but I wasnt sure on the portwork and I had to take off many pieces of aluminum around the cast mold areas thay should have been cleaned before they shipped the cylinder. Whats you guys opinion?

he doesnt do much port work really.your looking at his basic trx 9 mold.he then goes in and spends about 10 minutes smoothing things out.you need to send the cylinder off and get a true mid to top port job.

 OMG !!!!!
Now, what did you yourself do to the cylinder ??.

I can tell you this much, you need to smooth out the reed chamber before you run it, because that ruff surface will destory the reed petals.
Looks like the ports were even champhered with the same carbide cutter.
That thing needs some attention before its ran.

:eek2: Looking ruff aint it.
That one has been touched a little more than normal.
I would say was on the first cutting of a port job, but for some reason never finished completely. Just a ruff hog out to remove some bulk & then smaller cutter to finish it out, but was never done.
But, for 599.95 for a complete 310 top end.

I didnt do anything to it but remove some pieces of excess rough sharp edges that were comming off themselves with my hand. Those pics are out the box. Should I call ESR and tell them Im dissapointed in the port work? I agree it needs a much better job.

Spoke with Tom at ESR and he said that trx9 was a mold and then cleaned up a bit but he said Eddie got the port work exact and it runs way better than the pro x did.? Maybe hes telling me what I want to hear.

I have their 310 kit, The port work looks the same as mine, I cleaned it up a little bit. Just got done breaking it in and it has real good power, hits real hard, Im just trying to tune my carb, I have a 38 A/S w/ 175 main and 50 lower, Right now it boggs out to much on the bottom and the throttle is not that crisp, Any tips.

Sound that you may be too rich on the needle. How did you "clean it up"? I had a CEL needle and they sent me a DGH, I put it in today on my current setup, middle clip, and it ran great. no more sputter at 1/4 throttle.

If I'm not mis-staken, mine doesn't look like that. I'll have to check in the a.m. I believe the bridge on mine is smoother.

From the pics it looks like the intake in front of the boost port looks like it needs the surface to be un-screwed up. Those wavy speed bumps are bad news for flowing fluids.

The chamfers look like they could use some refinement too to help ring life.
