As of recently, my hybrid has been sounding a bit raspy. I believe it's time for the packing to be replaced. Can I drill this rivet out and remove the insert? Do I re-install with a rivet again?

thanks

Whats the other end look like? you might hafta take it off there, if it doesnt look like it can come off there then grind the rivet off or drill it out and its soo much easier to put a new rivet in than to put a screw in.. How do u know when they need to be repacked?

I can see thru the perforations that over 50% is gone

It's a Rossier..I called them and the guy on the phone was an ***. He says the insert should push out from the mid pipe connection, out the end. Suggestions?

I tried..no dice. Looks to be really stuck.

The rivets have to be removed. That's what is holding the inner canister in. You will need to replace them with new rivets.

I got it figured out. I used some HELIX packing. Seems to be very nice quality. Quad sounds better already.
thanks
