Does anyone know if the TRX450ER 2007 needs a Normally Closed or a Normally open kill switch? I have no wiring diagram and cannot find one anywhere.

Huh? What is the difference? Can you elaborate? I have a killswitch on mine, didn't know there was more then one kind.. Hope its the right one ;-) It works fine..

I guess if yours is working you have the right one.
Normally open and normally closed refers to the wiring as far as I am aware. The TRX450ER 2007 needs a normally open, most other ATV's use a normally closed.
I installed a normally closed and the bike would only run when the tether is off. i.e. the opposite to what you would want.

couldn't you just switch the wiring around instead of buying a totally different killswitch??

Thats what I thought but apparently not. I tried that. It has something to do with the wiring polarity I guess.

They wouldn't make Normally Open and Normally Closed kill switches if it was that easy!
I wish it was.

normally open means the circuit is normally open...meaning that there is a break in flow...a tether that is normally open cut off the power when the circuit closes...

as far as i know, the 'zuki ltr450 is the only one with a normally closed tether needed..

Actually the only ATV's that need Normally Open switches are the TRX450R, KFX90/50 and the Banshee. All others are normally closed.
This may vary by year but the above is valid for most bikes after '06.

This is according to Gunnar BTW.

then why am i using the same tether on my 2000 400ex that i had on my 06 450r?

i think gunnar has a typo as the pro design(normally open) works with most atv's

it also depends on which way you would wire it, there is a couple ways it can be done on each machine....usually normally open is used tho

Ok - the conclusion to this: I took the bike and the kill switch to a bike shop who knew what he was doing. 10 minutes later it worked.

Conclusion - you are all right, any switch will work but the wiring would have to comply with the NO or NC concept.
Lesson learnt - when dealing with electrics I need to use someone who know his stuff.

Good news is I am ready for the Baja on Friday. :eek2:

Thanks for your feedback.
