What do you think of em? Im thinkin about pickin one up. This will obv require me to sell my cobra. The only thing thats holdin me back is the fact that almost all of them have a **** load of miles. And the one i really want is Laguna seca blue, which is rare as hell. Also, i dont know if i want the SMG tranny or manual. what do you guys think.....

i drove my friends carbon black 06 m3 to florida a few months back and it is a great car! I love the thing. Its smg tranny too with only 13,000 miles. And your in luck cause hes selling it. He lives in florida so if your interested in it let me know and i will give you his number. And its convertible.

Laguna seca e46 m3's are aboustle sex. I'd pick one of those up over a mustang any day, but then again im a little bit biased lol. BTW check out www.bimmerforums.com

edit: manual tranny ftw.

edit.2: if you sign up to bimmerforums, beware off the off topic, because it is epic.

Oh yeah, whats the milage of the cars your looking at? I don't know about M's but BMW's are super reliable. For example, for the past 2 weeks my cars been making noises, and I thought it was my clutch. So I checked under the hood to see if it was a fan or something, and I checked my oil, and the dipstick was DRY (oops). Even after about 2 weeks of no oil the car runs 100%. But my car is just a regual 3 series, not an M, idk too much about the M motors.

Absolutely. Their level of quality is amazing, very fast cars with lots of potential to get even more powerful. I would personally take it with a manual tranny, but SMG must be pretty sweet too... something about the sound of a SMG downshifting.. = )

The main reason i dont want to sell my cobra, is i love the speed and torque it has which the m3 does not. My cobra, as it is now, would run circles around an m3, and it has multiple times. And i really dont want this to start a battle about which car is better. To get the m3 anywhere near as fast as my cobra, i would have to dump a **** load of $ into it, and the mods for bmw's are really really expensive.

I know the m3 will obv outhandle my cobra, but i have 0 intentions of going on a road course or anything like that. I guess i really just want to try something new :ermm:

I would keep the cobra.

BMW's are SO expensive to fix too if anything goes wrong, and if you start modifying it, its bound to happen. One of the regulars at my bar has a supercharged M5 and that thing is always in the shop, and BMW did all the modification work on it. Not that the M3 is a bad car, they are sick i understand the temptation. Plus that thing will never sound as good as your Cobra i guarantee it :D .

im telling you the same thing i told my buddy when he sold his 04' cobra for a built STI...hang on to the cobra for the rest of your life, its going to be worth an *** load of cash some day.

and ontop of that, throw up some pics of that thing.

i personally am i hugggeeee fan of bmw, but i think i would rather have your cobra with a nice set of aftermarket wheels.

I would so keep the cobra over the M3. Not even a question. Yea M3's are nice blah blah, but they don't have as much of an "exclusive" nature about them as the 03/04 cobras IMO. Those M3's were cool when they came out but kinda lost their appeal to me. Look at the 03/04 cobra on the other hand, several years later after they stopped making them and it's one of the baddest, most sought-after cars on the road.

Some of these pics are old, since then i have tinted the front windows as well, and the tail lights, along with an extensive amount of motor mods :D

Im really considering making the jump, one of my boys offered to buy my cobra :ermm:

Get the M3!!! Here are some pics of mine.

I bought it a few years back and have put 40,000 miles on it without an issue. They are amazing cars and will make you forget about that Ford immediately.

I have Ground Control Coilovers, Full Borla Exhaust, upgraded amp and speakers etc. etc.

I love the M3's, but I'd say keep your termi, they will be worth something in the future since most of those are modded out the *** or wrecked.

But if you get an M3, send it off to horsepower freaks.

If anything sell the black stang and get the m3. I wouldn't let that cobra go anywhere lol

-The numbers in my sig are legit, dynos at JDM engineering on a dynojet.

- The ISF is nice, but an auto? eh no thanks, if was goin to be spending that much money, it would be on a e92 lol

- and benjix, that m3 is really nice, i see u got the smg tranny? how do you like it, and does it have launch control or something? If i were to get one, idk if i shuld go with that or the manual?

- And about the HPF kit, its like 20 K, id rather just turbo my cobra for about 10 K TOPS and have an absolutly insane ride.

After seeing the pics of your cobra, now i just think your crazy for even considering it. If the cobra has been a reliable every day driver after the mods you are def crazy for considering getting rid of it for a M3

Keep the Cobra. The BMW is nice, not going to deny it, but not Cobra nice.

Apples and Oranges really, They are in two different family's all together.

This question bugs me a little because I don't like Fords and really don't like Mustangs, So I am going to stay away from this a little and just answer questions about the M.

I love the SMG and Launch control is pretty cool. Some guys hate the SMG, so I would suggest driving both before making a decision. This car is so smooth and precise, I just can't imagine comparing it to a solid axle mustang.

My buddy has a full on HPF turbo setup on his M and it cost him an around $24k. Monster of a car, but that much extra coin should have been spent on a 996 Turbo or something....imo.

I don't blame you at all on not liking mustangs of whatev, but just to correct you, the cobras have IRS..... I'm still thinkin about makin the jump tho

dont even compare the two. The m3 is in a completely different league and if i were you i would definietly get it. You get power, handling, style, and the latest technology. Definietly go with the m3.

Terminator > E46 M3.

Throw a 2.6H/2.8 KB on that Terminator and see if you even consider an M3 afterwards.

If the only thing considered is Dyno numbers then sure, keep the stang.

...But if any other aspect of the car is taken into consideration, The M3 wins every time with ease.

The IRS in those cars can be modified to make one handle very well as well. The build quality on the Cobra is alot higher than on a regular Mustang so it's not just like owning any other modified Mustang. Plus in the last 2-3 years the Terminator prices haven't dropped, they are holding there value very well. He also said the M3's he found all had high mileage. To me it seems like a terrible idea to get rid of what you already have for something else, especially with the economy as is.

Benjithx
02-12-2009, 03:55 PM
How is the built quality greater on a Cobra? ...anyway

To each their own.

Take this for what it's worth.
I own an 04 M3 and have driven several juiced stangs (Roush/Saleen) and for me there is no contest.
