which one?

so ive been looking at 450r's......i could get the used 05..(seriously looked like it had been rode twice...) or the '08 kick start......the 05 was 3600 and the 08 was 5500....j/w as to which one is better as i havent been following the 450's as much as ya'll prolly have.....i was looking to trade or sell the race bikes in my sig.....mainly the 400ex....info is appreciated!

$3600 sounds awfully high for an 05. $3000 would be top dollar and that's pushing it.

I have an 08 kicker and like it way better than the 05's. The 08 transmissions arent as bad as the 06's like people say either.

05 has a better motor if you plan on highly modifying it. 05s are tough too, plus they have better front suspension. (spindles and control arms)

If the 05 that you looked at is in excellent condition, with Very low hours, its worth every bit of 3200-3500.

08s are great bikes too though, especially kickers.

i think it depends on what you wana do with it,if you wana mod the motor alot go with the 05 but just drive around recreation or keep it fairly stock id go with the 08 cause in stock form its faster and newer of course

it will have all the mx goodies just like my ex.....not sure on the motor yet....more than likely it will be stock till it gives trouble then will build it...

definitely get the 05 then.

The 05 has a better engine for MX the 05 motors are more problematic due to the new technology. I would choose the 05.

I dont know why everyone says the 05 motors are better for mx. The 05 motor has a 94mm bore with 64mm stroke. The 08 motor has a 96mm bore with 62mm stroke. Just by looking at the specs, its easy to tell that the 08 motors will rev faster and have more horsepower. Nothing you can do to the 05 motor will make it rev as fast. Plus, the bigger bore on 08's means bigger valves and more horsepower. Sure you can put bigger valves on the 05, but without increasing the bore, it wont work as well with them. Most guys need to keep their race bikes stock bore, so that wouldnt work. Everyone says that an upgraded 05 motor is the same or better than the 08's, but everything about it is slower. An upgraded 05 motor will never be as good as the crf motor.
