I was changing the oil and broke the long bolt holding the filter cover on down in the case. I have read all the threads on this i could find and theyre not too much help. I dont want to crack the case to take it out right now, I tapped out the hole, the smooth section before the factory threads and put a different bolt in to hold it on. Will it hurt anything to run it like this, if not i may never bother getting the old one out and just run it with the bolt i put in its a much stronger bolt anyway.

So you have a broken bolt end bouncing around inside your case ?

the tip of the bolt is still in there but i dont think? that there is any way for it to get into the crank case. i have never torn down the engine so im not sure but from looking at the outside and the pictures and exploded views in the service manual it looks like it is just a sealed bolt hole, if anyone has torn theirs down and can tell me it would be a big help i havent even put the oil back in yet so it hasnt been cranked

It wont hurt anything. There is no way anything could have gotten into the engine. The biggest problem you could have would be oil seaping out right there.

yeah i just put in the oil and let it run about 10 min no leaks the filter cap cant really leak the only place it could cause problems eventually would be where the clutch side cover bolts up to the block but i dont think that will be a problem either
