i had my hubs welded at one time too and it works great when my splines were bad, but roughly $200 should fix that, good used parts that is.

Needs some work yeah. But it should be great once you get everything straight with it.

I am building a 400ex from scratch at the time. I am doing complete bod and suspension work on it. But only doing a minor build. I want riliability more than power.

ya you got a upgrade its accually in pretty good condition for an 02. blasters are ok but they have drum brakes and almost no suspension. its even got the stock bars so you know it wastnt modded or riden to hard. i was going to tell you to weld the hub to the axle cause there f-d but i see your on top of it. most of the stuff you need you can get cheap like the front bumper. tires might be the biggest expense but check around locally to see if any body has any take off they dont want. check the brake pads, clean the air filter, change the oil/filter grease the front shock lower pivot bushings, scrub the crap out of it and ENJOY.

If he tore up some of the threads or as you stated "d'ed up the hub" I would pul the axle for peice of mind! Grease the bearings just to be safe.
I would also pull the swingarm and do those needle bearings as well. If for nothing else to grease the pivot bolt with graphite or anti-seeze. :D

i have an 02 and i have never had any probs with my original carrier bearings. most of the probs. come from people over tightening there chain and wiping out the bearings. they are hard to setup right so they either over tighten the nut and bind the bearings or under tightening the nut and it comes loose destroying the carrier so they have to do it over and over again.he's new to the ex and we dont want him to have to deal with the pivot bolt. im sure the pivot bolt is what it is. let him ride it some it isnt going to change anything.

I was just saying... Do you actually thing the other guy did any of that work? Sounds to me like he did not do much at all.

I would just hate to see this guy become a statistic to the pivot bolt then be on here in a month or two saying that he can't get it out in a new thread and wonder how to remedy the situation. Then be asking if anyone has one.

It's a pain in the *** when you need to do it. Maybe we could save him a little grief.

I'd have to agree with people overtightening their chains and eating the bearing. I came this close [holding up fingers and pinching thin air] to doing this with my 400EX.
