I'm thinking about going with a high compression piston on my 05. I have the HRC kit with exhaust and k&n filter. My question is, with the higher compression, how does that affect the kickstart. I dont want to round anything off or strip any gears. Anyone with some input is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

It won't be affected at all. A higher compression piston doesn't change the compression on startup because the decompression mechanism is still engaged. The higher compression is only after the decomp. mechanism is disengaged (after the motor is running).

Does anybody have an 05 that they put a high compression piston in? If you did, how high did you go? I want to feel a reasonable increase, mostly throttle response. I ride woods and trails, not too many straight-aways.

Brad i would recommend just going 12.5/1 that's what i'm putting in my bike it's just about as high as you can go without having to run race gas i'm running a baldwin i like them becuse they already have a coating over the piston reducing friction and there lighter than the stock one's, but that's up to you baldwin are kindof higher priced compared to alot of other brands, but check out babbittsonline.com you can get it there like 50 bucks cheaper than the msrp that's what i did

Unless you are racing, I would recommend nothing over 13:1. I would also go with a three ring design over a two ring.
